About This Site

This database is a translation support system, and is not a document management system. Therefore, documents in this database may not be current, nor official.
Please keep this in mind and use this databse simply as a translation support tool. If you require an up-to-date official document, please inquire with and receive it from the appropriate department that manages said document.

Nagoya University Translated Information Archiving Database is a system that serves as an "online archive" for the purpose of storing and releasing the University's translated information for wide use within the University and beyond. This means NUTRIAD compiles and provides the University's information with a variety of versions of both the original and translated texts, which is expected to contribute to Nagoya University's creation, development and sharing of information and translation assets in electronic format.

・Disclaimer and Notice to Users

With regard to all data and information contained in the Nagoya University Translated Information Archiving Database, the Japanese text shall be considered official, and in case of any discrepancy between English and Japanese versions, the Japanese text will prevail. English translations are provided for reference only, and no guarantees are made regarding their accuracy.

This site is used at the sole responsibility and discretion of the user, and Nagoya University shall not be responsible for any problems that may arise in connection with the use of this site.

Data and information available on this database is restricted according to a user's access/log-in status at the entrance page.

NUTRIAD only deals with "text", i.e. pure textual information contained in the University's information/documents, and does not cover any matters related to document layout or design, including indenting, spacing and line breaking, etc. As a rule, NUTRIAD's translation is deliberately done sentence by sentence, so that the Japanese and English sentences can correspond to each other; you can refer to these sentence-based segmented texts in Japanese-English comparison through the "Keyword in Context Search" function.

・About the Keyword in Context Search

NUTRIAD's Keyword in Context Search uses Bilingual KWIC® (a registered trademark under the name of Nagoya University), a concordance tool for translation support created and developed by Associate Professor Toyama's group at the Graduate School of Information Science, Nagoya University.

The input keyword is displayed in blue, while its translation is displayed in the three following color types:

1) Blue: the translation that has been automatically estimated.

2) Green: the translation is from the Standard Bilingual Dictionary embedded in the NUTRIAD.

3) Red: the translation that has been designated in the [Translations] box for translation re-search.

 * By clicking on one of the displayed texts as a search result, its whole will be displayed in the box below.

 * Translations shown in blue are the result of automatic estimation and may not always be accurate.

 * There may also be cases where a translation cannot be identified for an input keyword.
